I dont think there is anway of tracking money orders from USPS..
I sent money orders for 485. is there a way to track if money orders were cashed by USCIS..the money already left my bank once the money order was issued by my bank

If you do invoke AC-21, you might have problems with your petition as there seems to be a big difference between a Sr. Program Manager and a Programmer Analyst.
However, if i were you, i would still take up the new role and send in the AC21. There is a possibilityt hat they will approve it.

If it is mentioned in I-140 approval, do we supposed to write in I-485 and other applications? As I understand, A# is registration # and which is assigned when I-485 is accepted? Please somebody confirm it.

As veni001 stated to extend H1B beyond 6 yrs don't we need to have Approved 140? and you said your 140 was withdrawn after approval. So withdrawn 140 has no effect on H1B extension. Did you submit the 140 documents also to USCIS? my email id is kalyan.cdev at gmail.com please drop me an email with the details..

They've just posted a $T1.2 deficit and that is pre-Obama infrastructure program. They may have to deflate the dollar in order to pay it off as the countries that normally buy US treasuries are experiencing their own crunches. The financial bailout has the affect of being a huge wealth transfer from the middle class to the wealthy where there already is growing income inequality. Plus the Iraq war costs muchos dineros. In summary, I am bearish about the US economy, dollar, and future prospects over the next decades. Some economists say that the Bush (Jr.) years cost the economy (If I remember correctly) around T$9. A staggering amount.
Canada has her fiscal house in order if not political house in order. (There will likely be yet another election in the next few months.). Canada has been posting government surpluses provincially and federally in the last decade or so, so Canada is prepared for what will likely be a mild recession. (The belief is that they'll be out of recession 2nd half 2009) Plus the banking system was not allowed to go leverage wonky like down here. So there is no big bailout, and no big financial issues. There are some credit issues but I believe that they are spillover from the US. Canada has buttressed the banks but to place them on an even keel with bailed out US banks. Scotia bank, for example, has rejected the efforts saying they're not needed.
Wages are lower and taxes are higher but if you have a family it may be beneficial because daycare and other child related expenses are subsidized. I think it is 9 or 12 months paid maternity leave, for example.
Job market is pretty tough. Though there is likely more unemployment now in the US due to differences of measurement.

I did check the USCIS website for the July 17, 2007 (reinstating the July Visa Bulletin) and July 23, 2007 (about I-485 fees) notices that are specified on murthy.com link you provided, but did not find them. Genereic faxes requesting to remove hard country quota may not yield the desired result. It is very important to request any senater who is willing to help or undertand the issue. It should be done thro lobbying and explining him/her in person why it is important to the eliminate country quota, hard country quota increase the baklog instead of reducing it. He/She should to bring an amendment to the bills(Frist/Specter) to bring back the AC21 provision. Then we will get the success.

The priority dates cannot be ported during the I-140 stage. This can be done only during 485 filing where in you have two I-140s approved and a request can be made to use the earlier priority date.

I just thought of sharing this update on my case for the benefit all those whose apps were received by J Barrett at NSC.
My checks got cashed last night. The details are below:

Case was transferred to CSC and back of our checks show receipt #s as WACXXX
I had an LUD on my approved I-140 on 7/28/07

As you are joining employer to file 485 negotiate so that you can file on your own. Get all the documents you needed and then join that company. Coz he can make good money over these 6 months there is no reason for him to refuse.

In talking to multiple travel agents, I don't think there is such a thing called "open ticket". I guess there is always a return date and most air lines will allow you to reschedule, some for free and some for a charge based on your ticket class.
The 6 months return validity suggestion above is valid, assuming they are on a visit visa (not have a GC themselves :). when my parents came they only have the ticket for 4 months and the officer at POE gave them 6 months on the departure card.

Dear friends,
I have a situation here and it may not be very different from what many others are facing as well. But just that I am not sure what I should be doing now.
I have a H1B visa and I am working for a company in NY state. I will be leaving the company on this Friday (laid off) . My company has informed me that they can hold my H1B for upto a month after which they have asked me to leave the country if they cant find another assignment for me.
My question is :
1) Can I transfer my H1B to some consulting company , that can atleast hold my H1B so that I stay in status? If anyone knows any info on some good consulting xompanies in NYC , that would be very helpful info for me.
2) My wife is on H1B as well .. If I go as a dependent (H4) on her (in case I dont find a job) , will I still be able to shift to H1 in the middle of the year or should I wait until Apr 2010 until the qouta opens? I also would like to know how long it takes for a H1 to H4 transfer and what are the procedures for the same.
3) Can I go from H4 to F1 and then back to H1B when the qouta opens in Apr.

This is what we need to be asking Congress...before Congress tells us that as high-skilled legal workers we must spend up to 10 years waiting for an immigrant visa (Green Card)m or just go home, they need to see if we are worth pursuing or not. Evidently Congress believes that at least some immigrants are worth pursuing, as evidenced by the free-for-all DV Lottery, where 50,000 Green Cards are randomly given out yeary to people from all over the world (except India, China, Mexico and the Philippines). These free-for-all visas bring 50,000 new people to the U.S. who can come here even if they don't have a job waiting for them, thus they end up taking American jobs (in convenience stores, selling Avon products door-to-door, as car mechanics, whatever)...and then there is us! The highly-skilled people, in the U.S. on LEGAL visas. We are doctors, engineers, business leaders, in positions where no American was found for our jobs (as evidenced by the grueling "Labor Certification" process) we pay taxes, contribute to the U.S. through patents, start-ups, community work, and yet we are abused, drowned in red tape and told to wait for up to a decade for a Green Card.
Congress needs to decide if we highly-skilled contributors, who are very few compared to the overall pool of immigrants are "worth pursuing" (read the article in the link at the top), or at least whether we are AS worth pursuing as DV lotto winners such as car mechanics from Belarus, or Avon ladies from Bolivia (with the difference that they were given a free ride and allowed to take jobs away from Americans, and us PhDs and Doctors are forced to be certified that we haven't and won't take any job from an American, pay 1000s of dollars and wait for up to a decade)
